List of essential travel gears – What’s in my Backpack ?

What's in my Backpack

While traveling, your backpack is your home. For your entire itinerary, you are solely dependent on it. No matter how experienced you are, packing can be a cumbersome task. It’s always advantageous to have a rundown of your packing list. The essential travel gears to carry on a trip is an outcome of your experience and experiments of several trips. Also, it depends on what kind of trip are you venturing on.

Many of you have been asking about essential travel gears to carry. Over the past few years of my travel, a lot of trekking stuff has changed and developed. The gear I use might not work for everyone, as now I carry much stuff related to blogging.

My website is more about budgetary trips, but I never compromise on trekking gears and body safety requirements as I don’t want to suffer the consequences of worn-out products through my trek and also it’s not my last trip to use this gear. It’s just a one-time investment to buy good quality products that will surely accompany you on your many trips.

The bottom line to best packing is taking as little as possible. Now without any further delay on your anxiety on essential travel gears, below is my suggested gear list:

Essential travel gears

A Rucksack

Needless to say that it’s one of the essential travel gears and so should be of best quality. Be wise in the selection of size to make it useful for most of your trips. For more info on choosing the right Rucksack visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErmLcauug5s&t=23s

The one I would advise my  readers is Quechua Trekking Backpacks (Light Grey) – 50 L:Rucksack essential travel gears

Camera

Another essential travel gears if you are looking for great shots. To make it easier for my readers who are looking to buy their first DSLR camera, I would suggest starting with a basic DSLR camera. You can either opt for a Nikon or a Canon. The camera has just a part to do with great shots, it’s the skill of the photographer that makes all the difference. Being a Canon guy I would suggest you go for canon 1300d.

Sleeping Bag

It is one of the essential travel gears for backpackers. Finding a sleeping bag that’s right for you may be the most confusing gear-buying task. There are lots of different types of sleeping bags out there, with lots of different name brands stitched to them. Also choosing one depends on what temperature you will be travelling. There are a hell lot of things to ponder upon while choosing a sleeping bag. The one I would suggest is Coleman Biker Sleeping Bag, Temperature (-2 °C – +14 °C)sleeping bag online buy essential travel gears

Hike shoe for short treks

Without any doubt, it is one of the essential travel gears as you are very much dependent on it. While travelling, taking care of your feet is very essential, they literally take you everywhere. So finding and buying comfortable and durable shoes is one of the most important things when you are packing for vacation. Make sure that you have at least used those shoes twice or thrice before packing.

For trek of 1 or 2 days’ duration, I prefer using:

I have done a few Himalayan treks and by my experience, I can assure you that shoes are your lifeline out there in all adverse conditions. Please do not compromise on the quality otherwise be ready for some dreadful consequences. I used FORCLAZ 100 high men hiking shoes on my Everest Base camp trek and would highly recommend them.

Laptop

If you’re a writer, photographer, blogger or a freelancer, a laptop is one amongst the list of essential travel gears. The ease of doing work using laptops cannot be replaced by mobiles and tablets. While buying a travel laptop you should definitely take into account of its portability, storage space, battery life and of course price. Anything lesser than a 13” screen and weighing less than a Kg is great with a battery backup of at least 6-7 hours.

The one I would recommend  is Asus Celeron Dual Core

Small Backpack

These packs are used for single-day hikes, climbs, runs or bike rides. You can always keep your rucksack at the hotel and use the small bag to wander around the city.

The one I would suggest is Quechua backpack

  1. Thanks for the sneak peak into your backpack! Couple of quick questions.
    1) Do you carry the tent BY DEFAULT on every single trip or just when you think accomodation may be an issue?
    2) Does your rucksack have a place to carry the tent?
    3) Don’t you carry a knife or any kind of weapon?

Thanks! Keep up your fantastic work.

    1. Hey,

      1) Just when I do have plans to camp, I carry my tent. Otherwise carrying a tent on each trip is a little tough task. And safety is another issue!!
      2) No, it does not have. I just tie up it to the side area.
      3) Ha-ha, no I don’t carry the knife along with me 🙂

      Hope that helps!!

        1. That’s great to hear.Trekking shoes are your lifeline over there so don’t compromise on them. Take good thermal inner for upper and lower body. Also take 2-3 pair of thermal socks. You can take a neck warmer as well. Rest of the items I mentioned in the article are fine. Let me know if you need more details.
